Valve preamp that brings back the classics of British hard rock.

Tubesteader Launches Gainlord

Tubesteader has recently introduced the Gainlord, a two-channel preamplifier/overdrive inspired by the legendary British amplifiers that defined the sound from the late 1960s to the early 1990s — a period that significantly shaped the iconic sound of hard rock.

High-Voltage Tube Circuits

This equipment utilizes true high-voltage tube circuits, providing the same impactful presence, rich harmonic content, and sensitive touch response as the original amplifiers, all packaged in a compact pedal format.

Low Gain Channel

The low-gain channel delivers an open, gritty sound, characterized by a grainy crunch and gently attenuated lows that add warmth and body to the tone.

High Gain Channel

Conversely, the high-gain channel offers a more aggressive sound with an additional bite in the high frequencies. It maintains the ability to naturally clean up when the guitar’s volume is decreased.

Bright Switch and Remote Control Feature

Both channels are equipped with a Bright switch, which enhances the presence of the tone. In the high-gain channel, this switch can also provide a slight gain boost. Furthermore, the pedal includes a 3.5 mm TRS connector that allows remote control for channel switching and the high-gain Bright switch.

Tone Cut Switch

Another notable feature is the Tone Cut switch, which offers two distinct modes:

  • Full Output Preamplifier, ideal for power amplifiers or cabinet simulators;
  • Lower Level Overdrive Mode, featuring recessed mid-high frequencies, which is perfect for front input use on an amplifier.

Versatile Usage Options

The Gainlord is versatile, functioning effectively in front of an amplifier, connected to a power amp, or used directly with a cabinet simulator. The pedal includes a power supply for wall mounting and a plug compatible with various countries.

Retail Pricing and Availability

The retail price for the Gainlord is set at US$ 349 excluding taxes and fees. The model is already available through official retailers and on the Tubesteader website. Below, you can view a presentation of the Gainlord:
