Fender has recently restructured the hierarchy of its product line produced in the United States. With the launch of the American Professional Classic series, the company is entering a new era in the premium entry-level instrument segment.
The new line replaces the American Performer, thereby positioning itself above the Player II, which is produced in Mexico, and below the American Professional II, which was launched in 2020.
Models of the American Professional Classic Series
The American Professional Classic series consists of nine instruments, which include six guitars and three basses. It has been designed to offer reliability, versatility, and high performance, accompanied by the tagline: “Tested. Reliable. Night after night.”
The outcome is a collection of instruments that are rooted in Fender’s established models but feature specifications tailored for the modern musician.
Among the innovative features, the new Coastline pickups stand out, which are inspired by the Pure Vintage models. These pickups provide greater clarity, impact, and dynamic expression while maintaining “the warmth and signature feel of Fender across all registers.” In essence, it delivers the classic tonal quality of the brand—just with enhanced warmth.
Other key differentiators include improved neck profiles in the modern C shape with rounded edges, allowing for increased comfort and speed during play. Additionally, there is updated hardware, featuring vintage bridges and ClassicGear tuning machines that ensure excellent tuning stability.
“We focused on every detail: from the new Coastline pickups that offer a clear and impactful tone across all registers, to the Modern ‘C’ neck with rounded edges that provides a feeling of comfort and familiarity from day one,” states Fender.
The Baltimore-based band Turnstile is the focal point of the launch campaign for the American Professional Classic series. You can see the guitars in action during the band’s live performances in the video below:
